christchurch metro sports wastewater heating feasibility
This feasibility study project was carried out for the Christchurch City Council.
The Metro Sports complex is a large, international standard aquatics and sports centre. The building was initially designed to utilise ground water as a thermal source for heatpumps, however geotechnical issues on the site made this option difficult. Applied Energy were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study to determine if wastewater heat could be an alternative thermal source. The study confirmed that this was feasible, and we then assisted the project design team with necessary technical changes to implement this. |
