Christchurch Metro Sports Wastewater Heating Feasibility

Christchurch Metro Sports Wastewater Heating Feasibility

This feasibility study project was carried out for the Christchurch City Council.

The Metro Sports complex is a large, international standard aquatics and sports centre.

The building was initially designed to utilise ground water as a thermal source for heatpumps, however geotechnical issues on the site made this option difficult.

Applied Energy were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study to determine if wastewater heat could be an alternative thermal source.

The study confirmed that this was feasible, and we then assisted the project design team with necessary technical changes to implement this.

"Nick Meeten at Applied Energy has undertaken a feasibility study for an aquatic centre, and an energy study and energy mapping study for the whole of Christchurch City.

We have been very happy with the service provided. He has delivered the projects on time and on budget. The advice received is of the highest standard. The deliverables are of a high quality and his communication and cooperation has been excellent.

We intend to continue our working relationship with Nick and Applied Energy Ltd, and have no hesitation in recommending him to others."
