This heating options study project was done in conjunction with Powell Fenwick Consultants
The Queenstown Aquatic Centre is the main aquatic facility in Queenstown, offering a range of indoor pools for sports and leisure.
The study started by assessing the existing heating infrastructure, energy consumption and associated financial and environmental costs. We also made allowance for a possible future expansion of the facility.
We then identified seven possible heating system upgrade options to be assessed. These options included both alternative heating energy sources as well as modifications to the ventilation and heat recovery systems.
Each option was financially and environmentally modelled over a 20-year time horizon and ranked from best to worst in each criteria.
"Applied Energy, in partnership with Powell Fenwick, were engaged to assist QLDC with assessing the most suitable options for upgrading the heating system servicing the Alpine Aqualand pool complex.
Nick Meeten was the primary point of contact for Applied Energy during the engagement. Nick communicated well with us throughout the project, both in regard to progress and as required to obtain our input. The deliverables from the engagement were of a high quality and delivered on time.
The team, in conjunction with Powell Fenwick, demonstrated excellent technical capability combined with an ability to communicate their findings in a straightforward manner, enabling us to make robust investment decisions.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Nick and Applied Energy."
